Remembrance Day in Ottawa

Remembrance Day is one of the most important days of the year for many reasons. It is a day to reflect on how our soldiers bravely fought for their beliefs and the future of Canada. We are able to live freely and without fear.

Our Scouts visited Ottawa this weekend and were able to attend the Remembrance Day Ceremony at the National War Memorial. There, we heard the 21 gun salute, saw the fighter jets fly overhead, and listen to speeches. Afterwards, we toured the Parliament Building and learned about how Bills are introduced in the House of Commons before being presented to the Senate and getting passed into Law. We had an opportunity to visit the Canadian War Museum, where the Scouts were able to examine a variety of weapons, tools, and artwork from the war. We finished the night off by walking all the way to Gatineau, Quebec!

It was a busy weekend that was full of learning, and the Scouts had so much fun!
